Storm Damage in Rochester? Here’s Some Help

Storm damage recently happened in Rochester & Southeast Minnesota.  The area was recently hit with heavy rains and high winds.  With power lines down & sump pumps filling, it can be a struggle sometimes to know where to begin.  Here’s some quick thoughts & some places to go in our area:

  • Begin with notifying your insurance company
  • Document the damage you received
  • Work in coordination with insurance to have repairs performed
  • Insure that any hired work is someone licensed and bonded (contact the State of Minnesota if there’s a question).

From a real estate perspective, if you are currently selling or buying property you’ll want to consider a few things.  Sellers, you’ll want to notify your agent immediately of any damage to update potential buyers and to amend your disclosure statement.  It’s always helpful to provide information on the status of repairs and any paid receipts.  Buyers, you’ll want to find out the status of the seller’s insurance claim and make sure you’ll be involved in the selections regarding any repairs needed, or also negotiate accordingly.  For more insight, contact the Realtor representing you.  Below you’ll find links to service providers that previous clients have used with success.
